This story is about Marium (Ramsha Khan) and how a hasty decision made by her father unintentionally ruins her life.
The drama depicts the harsh reality of daughters who get married abroad due to their parents greediness for the guy's presumably lavish lifestyle there and don't do any thorough investigation and background check on him. In this case, the father didn't think of it to be necessary to do any sort of investigation since it was his own nephew and thought that just because he is blood related, he will be perfect, without any bad bone in him and will keep his daughter happy.
Marium's paternal aunt, Musarrat and cousins, Ahmed (Muneeb Butt) and Sana come to Pakistan from Malaysia for a visit and bring a proposal for Marium to get her married to Ahmed. Marium's father accepts the proposal immediately solely on the basis that Ahmed is his own blood.
What is lead after this is something no parent would wish upon their child. Countless torture, mental and physical abuse, threats and insults thrown at Marium, the list is endless. However, after enduring one of the worst possible torments a girl can go through, Marium finally stands up for herself and says enough is enough. She then does everything possible to lead a better life on her own terms, with the support of a few friends that she made along the way.
This drama was extremely heartbreaking due to the atrocities Marium suffered. It was a good lesson for parents who accept a guy's proposal solely based on the fact that they are family and that they are living abroad and therefore think that they will have a lavish lifestyle which will keep their daughter happy. Just because they are related to you, does not make them any more of an angel. Background checks of the person you are getting your daughter married off to is vital, whether you know them or not.
One thing I really liked about this drama is in the end although she had two guys supporting her throughout her struggles, she didn't end up with any of them and was shown to be living her life independently.Usually in dramas, no matter how independent a girl is shown in the end, she always ends up being with another man just to show that she is incomplete without one, independent or not.
This drama was shown in 2019 and became the most watched Pakistani serial in the history of Pakistani television.
